Where Prices Come From
We monitor storage product listings across Amazon marketplaces in seven regions — United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Italy, and Spain. For each listing we record the current price, condition (new or used), capacity, product type, form factor, and warranty information where the listing provides it. Every row in our tables links to the exact listing it was observed on, so you can verify any price yourself before buying.
How Often Prices Update
Prices refresh throughout the day. Storage prices move constantly — daily deals, currency swings, and stock changes can shift a drive's price-per-TB ranking within hours — so every table on this site is generated from the live database at request time, cached briefly at the edge for speed. A price you see here reflects a recent observation, not the current checkout price: always confirm the final price on the retailer's page, especially during sale events when prices change by the minute.
How Price per TB Is Calculated
Price per TB is the listing price divided by the listing's total capacity in terabytes (decimal, as manufacturers label drives — 1TB = 1,000GB). For multi-pack listings we use the combined capacity of the pack, so a 2-pack of 4TB drives is ranked by its full 8TB. We do not currency-convert across regions in ranked tables — a table sorted by price per TB shows one region at a time, so the sort compares like with like. Regional comparison views show each region's price in its own currency.
What We Don't Do
We don't accept payment for placement — table rankings are pure price-per-TB math, and no manufacturer or seller can buy a position. We don't editorialize specs we can't verify: guide content about recording technology (CMR/SMR), endurance ratings, and reliability cites manufacturer datasheets and large-scale public fleet data, and we tell you to verify exact model numbers before buying. Some outbound links are affiliate links, which may earn us a commission at no cost to you; this never affects how listings are ranked or which products appear.
